The whole basis of republicanism and the foundations of modern France lie in controversy and criticism.  This is what the French call Reason,to which the nerdy English counterpose common sense and the Germans authority.

The French might appear to be cold fish to the English but that is only because of their history of being attacked by the English on numerous occasions for no valid reason. That's why they hate the English,no other reason,and.....

... if you speak English and you go to France, particularly Paris where French republicanism is strongest,sooner or later you will be robbed. France is full of thieves and corrupt policemen all of whom hate les Anglais for more advanced social achievements. Levelling down is in the nature of all republican virtues. Not only that but many poorer French people are well known as thieves, criminals and idle mouthpieces who betray even their closest associates.

Anyone who overstays their welcome in France,soon comes to the attention of the security and health police because France has the best organised political informer network of any country outside England.

Any Irish politician and foreigner who relies on the French for assistance and mutual support is playing silly games with their own lives and those of countless others. The French were reduced to idleness and drunkenness by the French wine industry centuries ago.

A counterpoint to the above view of the French. The Western world outside France

France is free of many of the strains and imperfections of "street scenes with fascists'" (Michael O Riordain,Jonathan Philbin Bowman Interviews,RTE Television,2000's).

Ireland of the eighteenth and nineteenth century

Ireland in the days of the French wars was asymptomatic to republicanism.

The legacy of the Irish soldiery in the service of England in that period stand in contrast to the French republican tradition.

Many of the habits and traits learned and copied by England's Irish soldiers have come down to us as traditional song and dance. One of these "Irish traditions",set-dancing,is based on the Spanish quadrille. Recent poetry is based on the French quatrain. Its manifestations are in the Latin 'four' of dance,fiddle music and ballad. That was  imported to Ireland in the 1840's and 1860's. All these French trends were taken to an evil country which does not pay its debts and is founded on enslavement, that country being the United States,by the Irish,Italians and Spanish.

Pre modern survivals of Ireland 

The real Gaelic tradition is nothing Oirish but rather consists of polyphonic singing, melodious rhyme,lilting,verse and epic and Aisling poetry not the trash emanating from the Americas and bawdy Northern soul and disco or Italianate song or other cultural products of the US.

A synthesis

How to synthesise modern equality with the traditional hierarchy of the Anglo-Saxon kind?

Let us imagine the attempt to marry the egalitarian idea to that which aims to "take you back in time,far back,real far back" (Little Richard,New Jersey) to make the modern socio-political model.

That synthesis has produced a sort of a vigilantee state in this colonial remnant.

Britain and Ireland,too, have been moving in that very direction. Part of their joint  dilemma is Northern Ireland,a country trapped in a vision of a past which never existed,one with a population like a "rabbit caught in the headlights" . Northern Ireland is a society ruled by active disinformation, the Irish and British military 'dispersion' tactic and peopled  by haverils and 'kept' women who are replete with illusory dreams. Throw into the mix legal injustice, police myopia and a fair measure of literary and artistic and lyrical virtuosity and you have the present cocktail of terror and intimidation,violence and mass sporting entertainment.

The reality of Irish "revolutionary movements" post-GFA 

The Provos were bought by Anglo-American and European money to sell their clientele down the river. 

But,I hear you say,the European Union put up the cash for the European Peace and Reconciliation Fund?

Not so. The Germans were in one of their long-term recessions and in budget deficit when a phoney political consensus was manufactured in Hyannis Port by Ted Kennedy. A nobody from Derry chipped in his tuppence hal'penny worth on behalf of the Catholic hierarchy,retired priests and lay Jesuit groups in Meath.

The French contribution to European Peace and Reconciliation Funds for Ireland

The French are notoriously tight-fisted and do not indulge corner-boys and mouthpieces in bainin sweaters and Donegal tweed jackets. The French do not subsidise childish scribblings and amateur polemics with their hidden cash reserves because they have enough scribblers and plenty of tub-thumpers of their own. French perspicacity about a dossers and layabouts party won through in Europe.

Only the Dutch and one or two other countries which had had religious wars, stumped up from their tax reserves. The Dutch finances some pacification  measures from the highly-taxed revenues of the trade in drugs, narcotics and tobacco.

In the years of the GFA,the people who were called to the podium at Sinn Fein and Fianna Fail conferences and television interview programmes merited no more than a dole cheque and a kick on the arse. That is something that should have been given to everybody who indulges people like Irish and Irish- American politicians.

The French police are universally despised and viewed with utter contempt by every wise person. A sane person is someone who like the average Frenchman, sees in both soldiers and policemen threats to even the most basic laws and rules and norms of civil society. In our country the pro-US political fervour and the appetite for violent revolution first diminished and then entirely wore off. Republicanism's adherents settled for cash-in-hand on the rare occasions when they did gain employment in our prison colony because they were all afraid of the taxman. That feature of republicanism was instilled in them by others. That did not gain them any kudos with the government and they soon realised that they had to pay their taxes. Nothing is more loathsome to a 'Frenchman' or Irish republican than paying back what he borrowed or returning property given to him on trust with the clear stipulation that it is to be given back or accounted for.By 2005,the shine had worn off the republican hope of an Irish Elysium and the sensible ones gave up or gave back what they stole for fear of having police break down their door.

Even an old country fool who has to learn from a novice about crime will soon tell you for nothing that the French are a bunch of wasters who get other people to do their work for them and the English and police are the same.

The French poor and workers affect hatred of the upper middle class and rich. That hatred is reciprocated,a melee de jours interspersed with random and systematic violence.

The French poor aspire to be rich and to piss down on their former class members in the style of a Labour Tory such as Neil Kinnock who I dubbed the Welsh Windbag.

French criminals 

A Frenchman has to be forcibly prevented from attacking someone who he refers to as patron, someone who he knows only to speak to once or twice to his face or on the telephone. He will continue his behaviour until he is threatened with a prison sentence. The French-the Irish have learned too from the French-celebrate the drunkards and the layabouts in their own country and abandon those from other countries,the unwanted migrants such as the Arabs,the Jews and Negroes. 

Other aspects of this French-Irish republican phantasmagoria 

This is how you will know you are talking to a paid police informer on the phone-they will tell you that Africans and Asians, Czechs and Russians and Poles work harder for less pay.

 I kid you not. Go and look at their houses and places of work. All are kitted out with the best and latest domestic appliances but in their place of employment,the lazy loafers won't lift a finger to get any paid work done. They sit around like the English doing no work and playing cards.

Our times,nationalism and republicanism in Ireland 

Take your pick, sentimental nationalism with its wishy-washy phrases and slogans,all of it coming from dungmongers and publicans or hard-edged republicanism and,with it,a middle class dictatorship.

For many Irish people,it is a tough and difficult choice to make. 

Err with caution on the side of Progress and Politics when voting because nationalism only represents the self-interest of pub landlords,all concealed behind pious phrases that do not amount to much in any sane,sober Irishman's thinking. If indeed he is a thinking man,not a thug with a cudgel or a knife. Nationalist gougers,gurriers and scumbags have begun to proliferate again as bourgeois democracy loses its grip on power.

Whatever one might think of Northern  Irish Republicans, they are certainly not people who believe that 'we are all in this together'. They have no truck for the most part with Irish Americans and ridicule them when they come to Ireland and visit any other European country. Irish Republicans have come into their own recently because of the denial of legal equality and freedom from oppression for Northern Catholics. The offenders are their opponents,the DUP and Orange Order. The phenomenon entails widespread breaches of human rights by the police, judiciary and British Army in this hijack state and the US will not assist anyone with a genuine spirit.

Nationalism,Irish Republicanism and the Continental French

Irish republicanism may appeal to the Irish Irelander voter but it is anything but nationalist. In practical terms,at least in the view of trade unionists, indigenous  egalitarianism is profoundly at odds with what they call "the Establishment". 

The Irish republican tradition has its roots not in the bourgeois republican tradition of France but in the republican socialist tradition,being as it is the only rural and urban "improver".

The main appeal of the modern Irish republican party is to the town dwelling population. The town unquestionably is contemporary republicans and progressives great stand-by in terms of actual,living support.

The socialist revolutionary tradition has led to the best successes and worst outrages,call them what you will,in the recent struggle for National Freedom. That armed struggle (1980's) came hot on the heels of a violent, desultory,riotous uprising (1968-1972) and an armed insurrection against a heavy-handed and brutal British Army crackdown on the sibling Provisional movement (1972-1982). I joined long after the baptism of fire,a Johnny-come-lately if you wish but no less determined to "make my mark and strike a blow against Perfidious Albion,ne'er ending source of all Ireland's ills".

However they are much more politically and socially adroit than the Irish. They have a firm grip on where their material interests lie and they know where to put their 'X'. Despite their love of the monarchy,the English have given the world many fine achievements through the actions of their governments.

 Behind public appearances, many are academic idlers and intellectual airheads who steal and illegally copyright other people's intellectual achievements and technical innovations as they did with mine.

Empire?

In their cleverness, they have set race,nation and religion against each other by the manipulation of oppositionists. 

Northern Ireland? The BBC?

In our country,they grant preferential media coverage to extremists.

The English working man?

Behind British hostility to other nations and groups of people lurks race hatred which is particularly directed at Irish,Asians and blacks. 

Finance capital? The City of London?

Britain economically is surviving through unearned income.

Irish food exports to Britain?

No matter how foolhardy it might appear to the Irish farmer, Britain needs us but we do not need the British, particularly the insolent English.

In the latter,he understands the Irishman's drunken lack of etiquette and manners to be 'a mortal threat to his native way of life' and his own 'manner befitting to a king'.

The system of social supports is not only the most developed,it is easily the most generous and beneficial.

No Englishman ever did an Irishman a good turn or gave him a dig-out unless it was to exploit his labour because as everyone knows,the English hate the Irish and blacks and force them into servitude by usury and loansharking and eviction.

An Englishman whatever his racial origins is only a lazy pig who is not suited for either heavy or manual work or persistent effort. He is a waster who knows that fact better than anyone who arrives in his country. He gets an immigrant to do any work requiring real effort or basic intelligence. He is at heart a barroom poet. The German is of a similar cut having been dragged into the gutter by Marxist economics and political circumstance.

Any Englishman who doesn't like the Jews or blacks will soon tell you in no uncertain terms what he thinks of you if you are Irish, particularly from the South. That is the universal rule of Anglo-Saxon and Anglo-American peoples and much of the prejudice arises from his-it is always a man who speaks for the English -association of Ireland and it's emigrants with poverty, lawlessness and filth.

The universal rule

If someone does not like the Jews in any country,that person will reject all the demands of decency and fair play and sell his birthright,his vote,for a pocketful of jumbles and reject even organised charity. That person will be violently opposed to both Jew and Christian and no more so than to someone who practices charity,public or private. Most English people conceal anti-Irish and anti-Semitic sentiments behind either a very smooth or very rough exterior.

A corrective

It is in England the monarchy which stops the population from fighting another civil war between rich and poor,black and white,Muslim and Christian and Jew and Gentile.

The English hate the Irish with a vengeance and go to great lengths to instruct them and hinder their development as do those other heretics,the Scots.

Ask any Scot or Englishman to whom he avidly preaches anti-Catholicism and race hatred and the vulgar socialism of the uneducated man,if he can name one historical figure who isn't an out-and-out racist or 'proud Britisher' and he won't be able to name one.

This is the lot of a country which imports its ideas and thinking men from other parts,a crass and vulgar country which tries to make a laughing stock of immigrants and whose public figures flounder for excuses when told that their health service and welfare state are fifty years out-of-date in their conception and administration.

The Englishmen are arrogant people when they are together so if you have to ever venture into what is an extremely xenophobic country,keep to your own kith and kin and national or social group and keep contact with the Englishman to a minimum.

The English have a much narrower field of knowledge or grasp of critical issues but by dint of circumstances are much better able to apply their limited knowledge and intellect to their own advantage. Nobody knows better than an Englishman that he is a conman who wouldn't work in a fit and he teaches the Irishman who goes over there to do the same. The German is cut from a similar cloth to the Englishman. Dublin used to be the same until the countrymen arrived and got some limited work out of them but you get dossers wherever you go in any country.

You will always learn what an Englishman's true interests are on a Sunday namely trying to turn dirt into gold,sowing Unreason and division and encouraging war and violence and fomenting chaos wherever he goes.

Listen into your mortal opponent' s favourite radio station or television channel on Sunday and it by proxy,will leave you in no uncertain frame of mind as to the Englishman's vile and base nature.

The Church sent many missionaries to England and they all lost any hope of teaching the English either decency or manners without government intervention to save them from the angry mobs that gathered whether they went to London's East End,Glasgow,Liverpool or anywhere else that the faith had been perjured in and condemned by Archbishop Wolsey or Cromwell. Even the Anglicans and Methodists were met with ordure and piss because they preached a brand of basic Christianity more in keeping with English customs and racial stereotypes . If you want to see what Karl Marx had in mind for Europe and the United States ,read his works and the Scot,Adam Smith,for a cardboard cutout of his ideal society,his halcyon illusion,a Little England or,if you prefer,a festival of British identity as was exampled at the Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace in 1858 and again on the South Bank of the Thames in 1952.

We are at least temporarily going to have to tell the English and Poles and Lithuanians to leave because the economic growth which attracted them to wages higher than in their own country is coming to a desultory end.

The English were put out of any country they went to because they were and are a greedy, violent and unmannerly people whose legacy in this country is hatred of the unknown mixed with country thuggery. That fact is exemplified by sport in this country. When even an Irish Army -type such as C. Moore realises that the Ancient Irish were thieves but preyed upon rather than predatory,there is much to be said for the past social environment whatever about its primitive rulers and idiot poets and lack of adequate defences.

U S and outside interventions in our society and in other countries

In the American or German canon when you are having problems with the police or finding work,the problem is "close up" or near at hand,namely in the same house or close to the same location as yourself.(In the English canon in a police state such as ours,when you are experiencing nuisance and interference with your peace of mind and a lack of local sobriety,the problem is someone who was in your company earlier on the same day. The disturbance can be traced back to police or politician in any case. Typical of those thugs responsible in Fermanagh and Tyrone are those who see in Michelle O Neill's inane rhetoric the panacea for their problems).

US imperialism 

Our recent past in Northern Ireland?The nationalist part of the mixed equation?

Drugs gangs sponsored by the US State Department and Department of Defense made their appearance to undermine civil government and the rule of law in 1971. Those lost souls started their campaign of attrition by exploiting civil society wrongs.

In our situation judges,clerical and lay, should have openly addressed the public to tell them that legitimate grievances would be remedied eventually and that politics and  reform were the only proper  grounds for peaceful advancement. Good politicians would,in those and similar circumstances, point out to the public that sinister elements were fuelling rioting and murder with drugs and alcohol. 

For their part rulers in a time of upheaval should stay away from the microphone until they make their appearance with offers of dialogue sanctioned by their foremost sympathisers. (No ruler or group of rulers can do that openly because then they must surrender their prerogative to have the 'final say' and preclude being in a position to curtail the powers of legislators and executive at the same time).

US meddling in China

The US has settled on China like a bag of hens (hib-eng. 'clocks') to reduce it to its own level of mental ineptitude,drug intoxication and casual murder.

The American Dream 

This phenomenon which America spreads is not a state of democratic rights rather a contagion of criminal, drug-fuelled love of guns, violence and race hatreds.

 There should be no attraction for sane people in armed protests, political rallies, violent demonstrations and outside attempts to stir up dissent unless the issue is of relevance to civil peace and proper governance.

America is a once-imperialist,now pensioner state in many ways. Many of its military still have the clearly stated aim of world domination. The last aspirant to that mantle was Adolf Hitler. He had similar designs to every American President. Behind the sugary rhetoric,the United States is the main threat to world peace and the Soviet Union was no less in its time.

Industrially,the US is only a husk of its former self,its real wealth and civil society hollowed out by foreign military adventures and large sections of its manufacture and industry long gone to other countries. Its stature in the world is built on imperialist violence, fiscal profligacy,  financial irregularity and corporate theft.

The modern age. Democracy 

The first thing to emerge from Venetian and French republicanism was humanism, secular and naive (and who says that we should not all be naive of occasion). That developed into free-basing profit-accumulation, loose thinking and capitalism with very few restraints. (What happened in the Soviet Union in 1991 was a form of managerial and popular rebellion).

In the ascent from ape to Man,came liberal collectivism which was connected in Anglophone society to the Lutheran and Calvinist Reformed religions.

It is now our bounty to have socialist, democratic parties in our parliaments in Northern Europe. Those parties are neither fish nor fowl in terms of Marxist ideological or workerist socialism but a coalition of workers and the intelligentsia. Very few people in the growing class of welfare recipients are animated by class politics or anything remotely approaching progressive arguments about facts and figures.

In the European scenario, Southern Ireland is a newly semi-democratic society but one without a system of comprehensive health provision or adequate public housing programmes.

Violence is a characteristic of all societies formation and remains a pertinent opposite to civil peace and political power until its prominent advocates and foremost spokesmen are long dead.

In many ways,a wind of change in North America is blowing but only time will tell whether it will deliver anything other than more armed thuggery and licensed gangsterism. 

Change. Ireland

The Republicans were certainly  not socialists though many in Sinn Fein are now further to the left than the struggling and impaired British Labour Party. The Troubles consisted of,in truth, nothing other than opposition to the British Government and the Church,Rock of Ages. Both knew that fact. (Witless newspaper readers in Tyrone, Belfast and Derry could not accept that violence solves no problem or series of problems).

Random acts of violence -the Continent of Europe 

Political commentaries on France in the nineteenth century neglect the signal fact that the categories of oppositionist and ruler or main antagonist and insurrectionist are not carved out of oak.(A lazzaroni,translated from Marx's commentaries by Rothstein and Levitsky as a cutthroat who was drawn from the poorer classes was in fact a cavalry officer mobilised from military pensioners. The lash of the bull-whip talked about by Lenin was the lash of a schoolmasters buckle on a scholar's back).

Another illusion spun by the Moscow school of scandal was the translation of ein bose Geist as firstly,a hobgoblin and then as a sprite and finally as the spectre of Communism. Marx's opening lines to his salvo of 1848,the Communist Manifesto,for ,,das tolles Jahr'' actually referred to the collapse of an entente cordiale between aristocracy and worker against the democratising middle class. Ein Bose Geist, therefore. The expression's real meaning referred to the breakdown of the alliance between worker and landowner,is the ending of a cross-party coalition by the malicious intervention of the Army. (Another contention of Marx entails  that a spoilt priest has cuckolded a married man with a cuckoo child).
