“They tear their hair out over theological points…” (2011)

Paisley, speaking on a repeat programme with William Crawley on Radio Ulster ( Monday 1st August 2011) mentioned theologians tearing their hair out over theological points" easily described by the poetry of the King James Bible as comprehensible to a five year old child".

Jesus said, “Unless you are like little children you shall not enter the Jokingdom of heaven.” Paisley should take note in all the welter of anti-Marian scribbling that he has put his hand to that Isaiah says “The Virgin will be with child and will give birth to a child and they will call him Immanuel…” (Isaiah 7:13). Isaiah predicted the devastation of Israel by the Assyrians which also came to pass.

Paisley has often rejected the Virgin Birth in his own unique way. Therefore,he rejects Scripture (and the New Testament with it).

Another Calvinist and Anglican doctrine is that Jesus had “brothers” (Matthew). This is a misunderstanding based on ignorance of the Roman law prevailing in Palestine. Roman law allows the head of the family unit to adopt his brother's children over whom he had power of life and death (manus). Joseph as a carpenter needed workers for his workshop and abided by the law on the Census. We can take it that he also abided by the law on adoption. Jesus had no blood brothers- he was divine and human.

Paisley and writers like Gillis reject Apostolic Succession as do Anglicans.

Jesus said “Behold thou art Peter and upon this rock I shall build my church”. Apostolic Succession  is demanded by the need for authority and pastoral teaching to avoid the schisms that arose at an early stage with the followers of St Paul and St Peter and Apollos.

Was the Pope wrong to give the English authority over Ireland?

There was no equity or rule of law in ancient  Ireland as is evidenced, forensically, from a knowledge of ancient Ireland. There was constant warfare and.political anarchy in Ireland. The Irish were a violent, rebellious and lawless people like the ancient Jews in the Old Testament.

Did not Pope John Paul 2 beg forgiveness for the sins of the Church before he died. We are all told by the Church that priests may fall into sin in the execution of their duty.
