Another sort of social advocate,a lawyer,who visits bars or clubs regularly is only a hash who doesn't know what he is talking about because in those places,people spend their earnings at the end of the week or month and have no concerns or worries for a while.

 A trade union official,the main advocate for the poor and marginalised,has a very good reason to frequent public houses and workmen's clubs because that is where troubles are shared with a trade union official and a problem shared is a problem halved. 

The latter fact is not recorded In Lenin's or Marx's airy fairy writings and the British Labour Party and Social Democratic Federation and Keir Hardie knew that fact one hundred and fifty years ago. They were anti-militarists and wanted to spread the doctrines of peace and socialism.
