Nationalism is about keeping power, wealth and influence over domestic affairs of state internal to that country's politicians and owners and influencers. It is to be distinguished from republicanism of the French and Irish type which is about the rights and to a lesser extent about obligations. Socialism is the perspective that it is money, wealth and power of one class as opposed to another class which is at the heart of survival, what Marx called the struggle for survival and the working class yearning for a redistribution of wealth.
While democracy and the battle for rights features only in republicanism,Irish country republicans claim that they are not 'taken in' by a 'hail fellow, well met' nationalist gombeen man or fooled by 'big talk' . However,it is hard to avoid the impression that they are fooled by hoaxers and nonsense rhetoric from their leading politicians and lesser figures carried widely on the local and national media. That type of controversy sets aside the need to adopt a position based on social and economic interests. Irish republicanism is largely escapist ( 'Adams' republicanism).
Why should republicanism have had a footprint in Ireland?
It is dedicated to the pursuit of rights. That pursuit of justice has overwhelming force in tyrannies and in colonies such as ours.
The Irish republicans, how goes it with them?
Generally speaking,Sinn Fein's dealings with the public are above board and those who say otherwise 'are up to something '.
Some points of general interest...
"The only decent people who became involved in politics in the North of Ireland other than for personal gain were John Hume and Martin Mc Guinness and their close friends and people who tell you to your face what they think of you,not people such as Richard Boyd-Barret or left wingers like Brid Smith or imposters like Adams and his hangmen."
We count amongst Gerry's fans,Gerry Kelly,Rita O Hare and Paddy O Donoghue. Similarly,we do not count rough Derry corner-boys and Belfast street-crawlers as people to be taken into our confidence or "intimate circle".
....
" People such as Adams have no respect for either God or man or even children as young as five years old. Berniece Swift has neither self-respect nor manners. She is a dirty little bitch and a loose woman with a lot of property in her name which she cannot explain how she came to own,no different from the rest of the women who you know that are under a debt of gratitude to you for getting them good jobs. You'll see soon enough the thanks you get from any of them." (My mother).

A word of advice...
The man in the street knows his own needs better than any well-educated fool or academic bod and knows who to vote for. The average person knows who will give him or her comfort and succour in his hour of need. That is something which a corrupt politician or a higher-up clergyman refuses to give to the average person.
But,a tip. If you are wondering how to vote in elections and can't decide on your first and second preferences in a Proportional Representation poll, vote for someone you know well and VOTE DOWN THE LIST OF CANDIDATES.

Our times
While we may in Northern Ireland mutter at times "A plague on both your houses," we should keep negative banter about politicians to a minimum at election times. It is a bad sign of any man if he or she does not vote openly and down the list of candidates. Observing someone not doing so is a way of recognising an idle hand or the means to recognise a paid informer who is trying to deceive you. A spy or doleman does not vote. A deceiver such as he thinks that he knows a lot more than intelligent people. Even more so is this the case in a woman where it is a sign of a noxious bully and a domestic terrorist.
We say to someone who does not vote in elections at the risk of being beaten up, "You're a know-it-all and a loudmouth. Goodbye!" That sort of person will soon make clear his or her contempt and attitude to anyone who votes. This mien he takes on at those he meets at election times. A curmudgeon insults superior wisdom.

The former Provisional
It is not the role of any true socialist or republican with a sense of well-being and an instinct for self-preservation to seek praise or recognition. Let Martin Mc Guinness words be remembered,"You will either be arrested, imprisoned or killed for joining the IRA".
A real Provo is someone who always votes Sinn Fein or argues for political democracy since democracy and republicanism are closely connected. A nationalist does NOT believe in democracy of any kind, either representative or parliamentary.

In 1984-5 and 1985-6 I tried to rewrite the Green Book with the Intelligence Operations Handbook and the Security Operations Handbook respectively. I 'led a lot of people up the garden path' accordng to Brian Mc Cartney.
I was,in another spy's words,a "reprobate".
Owen Carron backed Manus Maguire's claims because I had refused to throw away my life in one of his reckless adventures at Belcoo Sports Day in August 1982.
IRA political induction?
The Belfast IRA's efforts to induct volunteers politically amounted to nothing more than a pocketful of romantic poesies and historical curiosities. They avoided the issue of the plethora of deaths of IRA men due to having a lunatic at the head of the Belfast Provos.

The 'world plan' (July -August 1988,Dublin). The Judgement (23 December 1991)
A belated farewell to myself from Socialist Republicans was delivered by one of their so-called leaders nine years after Carron and Donnelly's attempt to have me killed. That Judgement came shortly after the Eastern 'drama' of 1991 began to arrive at a definite finality.
The problem at Belcoo in 1982 had been that of information changing hands between Donnelly and Carron and the Gardai. They passed information on to the British Army.
In December 1991 O Riordain-that being nine years later, nine being the second numeral of his house in Victoria Street, Dublin 6- attempted to dispatch me to the outer limits of the mental universe with the injunction," He rejoined the IRA. No,he wasn't in the IRA,he wasn't properly sworn in. No,the IRA always intended to use him as a principal. They were his agent. No he got out of it. He made himself their agent..."
A cup of sorrow which I passed up,this libation of grief from an old Stalinist. No hero,I!
The aim of that MI 6 spy's soliloquoy on Saturday 23 December 1991 was to get me to strangle my niece the next night at home at Main Street, Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh.
What is the only proper conclusion of O Riordain's activities and of any Communist or Provo who has gone over to make-believe nationalism and streetcrawling?
These are the activities of people who are in a state of demonic possession. Most are sole traders who no sensible, normal or rational person would pay any heed to no more than they would pay attention to any other 'gang of thieves'.

What is my and others with insight abiding impression of latter-day Sinn Fein?
They are the shoneens and lickspittles who they used to condemn and nowadays seek to emulate, idiots who swopped khaki jackets for crepe suits and long black coats.
The Good Friday Agreement?
Both Sinn Fein and the SDLP are two nationalist parties who constructed under the auspices of the Good Friday Agreement an 'agreement to disagree ' with unionists and a policing coalition to hound socialists and Labour men out of politics. The Mitchell plan was heralded as a plan to suppress both revolutionary violence and to encourage cross-community bridgebuilding. It has led to political ruin and the sectarian hatred of one's fellow man being enthroned in society. With the fanfare in 1998 came a wave of unreason, tyranny and poisoning.

Intimidation by Belfast and Tyrone Sinn Fein
As every sensible person knows, Belfast Sinn Fein intimidate the socialist democrats. They are a bully-boy party which appeals to the lowest instincts in any person. Tyrone Sinn Fein is a party of the thug, hooligan and guttersnipe despite the best efforts of some to dress them up as a political party.

The police and victims groups
We say of these street-crawlers who think that they are a match for the uninvolved and nationalists,"The only people who you can get to do your bidding these days are the doctors, nurses and hospital orderlies. You are chums with them and know how to tell a good 'victim's story'".
.....
.....
We say of many Sinn Feiners that they are people who are no good at anything other than making a nuisance of themselves at election times. US Democrats,Tony Blair and John Major's supporters were no better in more recent times than the Sinn Fein types referred to above.
.....
Sinn Fein's vote comes from from the publicans, farmers and those who sell something, never big capital or Big Finance or commercial discounting firms. The latter have crushed the small hostelry and are crushing the small shopkeeper.
Through a glass darkly....
Sinn Fein sets out to recruit a new echelon of supporters with hoary old stories about people who were no heroes, political philandering and stringing the bit out. By the latter,we mean borrowing on the basis of a pending insurance claim or welfare chequebook or card.

Sinn Fein and the working class
Their idea of work is sitting around drinking tea while discussing other people's private matters and ringing the police in response to appeals for "information on terrorism or crime" but omitting to mention their involvement in smuggling contraband tobacco laced with lead graphite. Like the mafia they bring contraband into the country to undermine the welfare and taxation system and upset central accounting and local and national government.
The US State Departmen spawned this mafia which has grown into a monster that can only be stopped by disbanding the Northern Assembly.

Riddle me this (or a two-sided argument)
"When your enemies have gone away, your real friends will appear who were protecting you all along.
"Before your real friends make their appearances the hoaxers will put in an appearance and make clear their so-called position because they do not have a consistent position on anything. They are users and abusers who laugh at everyone. What they call political policies are nothing other than old tripe which should be fed to the dog.
"During your 'sojourn in hell' at some doleman's request, you will have only one friend worthy of the name who goes to great lengths to protect you and your family. Your friends are the people every clergyman condemns."
.....
Provo "friends"?
"The Catholic Church told the IRA where to go and what to do with their malicious reports. The British Army dealt with the ringleaders in the required style with help from the Guards. Trade unionists told them where to get off the bus and when to stop their piquing and grunting. Most people ignored them apart from at election times because they knew they were good at getting things done in a businesslike manner."
....
Wiser counsel?
"You have Sinn Fein, the SDLP and Gerry Kelly and people like him to thank for your blessings, them and Fergal Mc Cabe and Fergal Connolly, not the people you're associating with, Joseph. They wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. Nobody knows who their real friends are and you're no different to anybody else these days in that regard because like most people nowadays you tell your business to everyone. It must be something to do with listening to the radio or television."
....
Easter Sunday is a significant day in the republican tableau of days. Why did the antecedents of Cahill,Meehan,Adams and Mc Guinness stage an armed insurrection on this day?
It was to indicate to Ireland and the world that they were a secular organisation not a group which obeyed the Second Commandment to keep the Sabbath holy.
Put differently, they brought into focus their irreligious nature. That faux pas in a Catholic country was exacerbated by Sinn Fein betraying their followers on the Good Friday of 1998,the bicentennial of the first republican rebellion.
All things must pass as that wise old bird,Karl Marx, knew one and a half centuries earlier. One hundred and fifty being the number of guns they retained for the protection of the Sinn Fein camarilla and the lumpen proletariat of Belfast.
