Israel and Palestine:Let the olive trees grow again(20.7.2013).

It is perfectly clear that there is no long-term solution in the two-state solution for Israel and Palestine.

There is an alternative: the one state solution.

How can this be achieved and the sacred goal of peace be reached.

There must be a mutual commitment to peace and non-aggression particularly by the warlike Israeli side.

Secondly, there must be the right of return for Palestinians as well as Jews.

Thirdly, the old land Ottoman  land deeds must be respected and land stolen and illegally sequestered must be returned even at the cost of demolishing settlements  so that the olives of peace may grow again.

Politically there is no viable solution other than one parliament with equal voting rights for Israelis and Palestinians and proper human rights mechanisms, the rule of law and due process.

A word of warning for the Israelis – the U.S. is fading and a wall of ignorant opposition is building up against you. Do not depend on a constant stream of support forever.

Reading through the Lenten appeal for Trocaire,I consider that,with certain reservations,if Sister Bridget Tighe considers that the people of Gaza are "wonderful",I have been blundering around like a bull in a china shop by interference in other people's business and reinterpreting history since it is clear that Gaza must be included in any Palestinian settlement and that the Israelis are the archetypal forces of instability in the Middle East and that there must be a burst of contrition in the Knesset. I do not believe that there are any real extremists as is shown by recent developments and that American credits should be curtailed until there is progress on provisional West Bank autonomy and land and water rights....

News broadcasts bring news of Israeli banditry and Arab mischief IN RESPONSE to Israeli aggression. It is true as the Jewish socialists who have been expelled from the English and Welsh Labour Party say that the Israeli state is the aggressor here.

I am no lover of Arabs but can we not have less black propaganda from the BBC and less of this state of endless war and perpetual tension. Iran is certainly no role model for Arabs. Syria is,a modern secular state fresh from victory. Egypt is a broken reed.

Let intelligent Arab and Jew, particularly the young step back from rioting and conflict as they did in the North of Ireland thirty years ago,and try to think about a sane and peaceful approach to the resolution of the conflicts in the Middle East.

It is very easy to see that the impetus for this ceaseless provocation and violence is coming from the Zionist lobby in the US and overseas. To start to resolve the issue, begin with an embargo on arms sales to both Israel and Palestine and any other country supplying them. Take the matches out of the children's hands.

Think it over, Israel, if you do not want to live in an ever-present state of alertness and fear. Those features bring forth the grapes of wrath and poverty.

You have very heightened sensibilities and are shadow-boxing with ghosts. Hama's is not a real threat to Israel's security.Constant warfare has led to a siege mentality.

Try,I suggest,to see things from the viewpoint of the people of the cloven hoof insofar as they themselves can discern their fickle, avaricious standpoints . Israel has lowered itself to their murderous level.

Try not to over-react. As someone who played the 'anti-Semitic' clown for years,sadly many took my gallows humour as a threat, I say that real anger is growing in Western and Central Europe. You have lost the high moral purpose of the refugees who returned to the ancestral land of Israel and Palestine.

Try to remember what a German Communist referred to as the 'god of the Jews',Peace.

Pay heed,the Holocaust destroyed the whole of Europe and poisoned Arabie as the Algerians call it. Hama's and the PLO and Syrians egged Arabs onto their perennial vainglorious boasting.

Think before you act.

It is clear,if as the Morning Star conveys, Israel is erecting motorised gunpoints,the Israeli state is beginning to engage in a paroxysm of robotic banditry.

How can a stately which is regarded as a colony by many in the Middle East and an outcast by a growing number of sensible people in Europe,tempt fate and an international withdrawal of cooperation with such blatant disregard for the lives of young Arabs who think that throwing stones is a "political protest" or "uprising". Neither side is in the right here but,judging by their appearance,these gunpoints are a wicked invention.

It is clear to me that America, Britain and Germany are sponsoring this wicked and evil aggression. These gunpoints are symptoms of a deeper malaise,a society of refuge which is clearly losing its way and in the words of Paul Foot,becoming a "hijack state".

Let America,in particular,bring pressure to bear to end this perpetual state of siege and,if necessary,return Palestine/Israel to Jordan.
